NASA Roses 2008 Call for proposals

( Last Updated: 26-02-2008 )

NASA Research Announcement, Physical Oceanography, Solicitation: NNH08ZDA001N-PO

GHRSST-PP is specifically targetted by NASA in the the Physical Oceanography program under the 2008 ROSES call for proposals. An emerging area of increased emphasis in NASA’s Physical Oceanography program is research on the coastal ocean. While NASA’s focus will remain global in nature, it is recognized that many of the practical problems with respect to human interaction with the ocean lie within the coastal seas.  The Roses call notes the following as a priority area:

Understanding and estimation of sea-surface temperature. NASA is playing a central role in providing the next generation of data products for sea surface temperature through the Global Ocean Data Assimilation Experiment (GODAE) High-Resolution Sea Surface Temperature (GHRSST) pilot project (http://www.ghrsst-pp.org). Proposals are sought which characterize and/or reduce uncertainties in these data products, utilize prototype products to constrain ocean general-circulation models, or interact directly with the GHRSST Project to prepare for exploitation of data products.

Programmatic priority will be given to those proposals making the strongest links to analysis of satellite data and addressing oceanographic problems at basin or global scale.

Letters of Intent are expected in April 25th 2008 and a full Proposal sumbission by June 26 2008.
