JPL GDAC filling L2P files with ancillary data

JPL GDAC has started to operationally fill specific L2P granules with ancillary data to populate the arrays of 'DT_analysis', 'wind_speed', 'aerosol_optical_depth', 'surface_solar_irradiance' and 'sea_ice_fraction'.
The data used to fill these arrays are derived from global ECMWF forecast fields for wind speed and solar irradiance, ECMWF analysis for sea ice, and global FNMOC analyses for SST (DT_analysis) and aerosols. Only L2P granules not completely filled by the native data providers are populated. Currently these include AVHRR products from the NAVO RDAC, and AMSRE and TMI products from REMSS. Filled MODIS L2P products will be available soon. No native data are overwritten.
Filled arrays can be identified by the comment and source fields. For example:
